“If there is meaning in life at all, then there must be meaning in suffering. Suffering is an ineradicable part of life, even as fate and death. Without suffering and death, human life cannot be complete” Viktor Frankl
“You and I possess within ourselves at every moment of our lives, under all circumstances, the power to transform the quality of our lives” Werner Erhard
Do you sometimes feel motivated, upbeat, enthusiastic and excited about life and yet other days are simply a drudge? Maybe an email comes in and makes your heart sink, or you have an argument with your partner or someone at work—and suddenly a dark cloud descends upon you.
Some days you might wake up feeling excited to be alive, balanced and really happy. Other days, for no rhyme or reason, you feel low in spirits. Moods come and go according to different levels of neurotransmitters in the brain, but for some people, there can be a level of doubt, gloom, insecurity or discord that always seems to be in the background.
Maybe you’re in physical pain? Is there somewhere in your body in persistent discomfort, like an ache or niggle? Some problems might show up mysteriously, such as waking up with a stiff neck, or a shoulder that suddenly ‘goes out’.
To be in the here and now, present and aware of what really is influencing the body, mind and spirit, is a vital part of the transformation.
Whether you’re a physical therapist such as a bodyworker, osteopath, chiropractor, a psychological therapist such as a counsellor or psychotherapist, or if you’re simply interested in your own personal growth and are curious about new and innovative healing methodologies available today, this process will help you.
Insight Osteopathy is a profound journey experienced through the body, emotions and soul. A deep shift in consciousness can be experienced by gently letting go of mental static and the emotional charge behind it, while the physical body is simultaneously searched and accessed by intuitive touch so that held tension can be released. This combination of physical, intuitive
touch, emotional release and getting in touch with what is embedded in the subconscious is the core of Insight Osteopathy.
The premise behind this process is that emotional energy which has not been expressed then becomes stored as tension in soft tissues such as muscles and fascia. It can also be held in joints, nerves and other bodily structures: even the sticky secretions of the body (like mucous) can hold this emotional toxicity.
The subconscious part of the mind manifests in the entire physical body as this tension. The book is an exploration of how my education and practice as an osteopath left me wanting more, as I discovered that I was not equipped well enough to help people with what was really behind their problems. I was good at helping people feel better physically but felt frustrated when problems recurred. I knew a deeper approach was needed. This book outlines how certain profound events in my life, along with what each experience taught me, led to the development and creation of Insight Osteopathy.
